NVQ Programme

The LATA NVQ offered by techcen is supported by a "virtual centre' website. This provides support and assessment to enable technicians to work towards achieving the LATA NVQ at an appropriate level. The NVQ is a competency based qualification which focuses on the work that you are already doing in your work place. It is assessed via a portfolio of evidence that you compile while you are completing your normal duties. One of techcen’s aims is to develop online assessment methods, which simplify the qualification process and enable technicians to take responsibility for their own professional development. We are currently providing Level 2, Level 3 and A1 certification.

Fees

We aim to keep the fee as low as possible and similar to that charged by centres currently offering this and similar qualifications. Based on the funding we have received for Novermber 2007- November 2008, we are currently charging £450 inc VAT for ASE members and £600 inc VAT for non-members at Level 2, and £500 inc VAT for members and £650 inc VAT for non members at Level 3. Candidates who are training for the A1 Assessors Award get their training for free in return for assessing candidates. The fees charged for techcen are currently about a third of the actual cost of the NVQ programme.
